WATERVIEW BURNS BAY COMMUNITY CENTRE

Melocco and Moore were engaged by Lane Cove Council to design and document a community centre at Burns Bay.

Located under a bridge in a new park, the building was designed as a general community space with optimal acoustics for its designated users, the local orchestral bands. A strong emphasis was placed on blurring the threshold between the built form and the park. Large glazed doors slide back to encourage outdoor performances where visitors can enjoy the music from the grass amphitheatre.
