MACMASTERS BEACH RESIDENCE
The MacMasters Beach House project is located on a sloping coastal site. It required an inventive solution to allow connection to the view as well as the private rear garden.
The house is comprised of three primary building components. A solid masonry bedroom element, a light filled timber framed living pavilion and a central double height zone housing entry and stair.
The open living pavilion connects to timber framed decks at each end. A south facing deck grounds the building to the garden and the upper level of the site. To the north a cantilevered deck projects out towards the view and the expanse of coastline beyond. The northern deck also acts as a wind scoop to catch the prevailing north easterly breeze.
The relationship between house and garden and house and view is integral to the success of the design.
